Don’t forget to vote on Nov. 3
If you live in one of Carroll County’s municipalities, Nov. 3, 2015, is an opportunity for you to do your civic duty and cast a vote for your favorite candidates.
In Carrollton, Mt. Zion, Roopville, and Villa Rica, several candidates are vying for the office of mayor. City council seats are being contested in Temple, Roopville, and Mt. Zion. In Carrollton, several school board positions are on the ballot.
If you are new to Carrollton or will soon turn 18, it is easy to register as a voter. You must be a U.S. citizen and a legal resident of Carroll County. Though you can register when you are 17.5 years old, you cannot actually cast a vote until you are 18.
Georgia citizens can register to vote online or download a voter registration application to complete and mail in. Mail-in forms also are available at public libraries, schools, and other government offices.
Registered voters can access an instant copy of their precinct card by visiting MY VOTER PAGE (MVP). You can use MVP to check your voter registration status, absentee ballot status, poll location, early voting locations, and current elected officials.
Registered voters in Carroll County also are eligible to participate in early voting, which is going on now. Early and absentee voting will continue through Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at the Carroll County Elections Office, located at 423 College Street in Carrollton. A second early voting site at Powell Park Art Center, 424 Leslie Dr., Villa Rica, will be open Monday, Oct. 26 – Friday, Oct. 30. The hours at both locations are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The last day to vote early or absentee ballot at any location is Friday, Oct. 30.
