Whitesburg is located midway between Carrollton and Newnan along U.S. Highway 27. A major rail line also runs through the city. Rail transportation is an important part of the city’s history. Whitesburg was the first rail center of Carroll County, providing a route for freight transportation between Savannah and Northwest Georgia.
Today, the town is small, boasting a population of about 600, but the development of nearby cities like Carrollton, Douglasville, and Newnan has brought growth to Whitesburg and the surrounding area, too.
Annual events in Whitesburg include the McIntosh Reserve Fall Festival in September, the Fall Arts and Crafts Festival in October, and the McIntosh Reserve Car Show each spring. Whitesburg is one of West Georgia’s most attractive real estate markets for families.
