Coffee in Carrollton, Georgia
Did you know that there is a day honoring coffee? October 1 is officially International Coffee Day 2017, a day when member states of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and dozens of coffee associations from around the globe encourage coffee lovers to celebrate their favorite hot beverage. This year, Oct. 1 is on Sunday, so the ICO has declared the whole weekend of Sept. 29 – Oct. 1 a celebration of coffee.
This year marks the third International Coffee Day. According to the ICO website, “International Coffee Day is a global celebration of coffee’s journey from the farm to your local shop— an opportunity to honor the men and women who grow and harvest the coffee we love.”
Carrollton is very blessed with many great sources of excellent coffee. It even appears that Starbucks is getting ready to open a freestanding restaurant near Tanner close to the intersection of Highway 27 and Clinic Ave.
Yelp.com ranks Gallery Row Coffee on Adamson Square in Carrollton as the city’s best coffee. Duffey REALTOR® Britt Duffey, who is not too fond of coffee, said his wife and daughter are big fans of Gallery Row.
“They have pastries, ice cream, and other goodies, too,” Duffey said.
We are glad that Britt can enjoy the experience with his family; however, we are a little shocked that he doesn’t enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the mornings-especially if you consider that you rarely see his father James Duffey here in the office without a cup of coffee in his hand or sitting on his desk.
In addition to Gallery Row, Yelp users have good things to say about Carrollton’s other coffee shops as well.
4 am Coffee Roasters, now in its new location on North Park Street in the former home of Vogelsberg Bakery, get top votes among Yelp users for its slow pour style of coffee making. Pour-over coffee starts with freshly ground coffee placed into a filter. The barista, also known as ‘the person who makes coffee,’ pours water slowly through the grounds to brew a hand-poured cup of coffee. Fans of 4 am also love their donuts and biscuits, but our advice is to arrive early so you don’t miss out. Once the treats are gone for the day, they’re gone!
Yelp users also rated the coffee at these Carrollton establishments best of the brew:
- Corner Café, Adamson Square
- Starbucks at UWG on Maple Street
- Courthouse Café, Newnan Street
- Jerry’s Country Kitchen, Bankhead Highway
- Dunkin’ Donuts, Park Street
- Waffle House, North Park Street
- Waffle House, Bankhead Hwy
- IHOP, South Highway 27
It’s a pretty well-known fact that most people enjoy sweet gooey baked goods with their coffee. Dunkin’ Donuts is hoping to entice coffee lovers with their menu of limited-time fall flavor favorites. Pumpkin spice goodies are now available, including the brand’s classic pumpkin coffees, donuts, MUNCHKINS® donut hole treats, muffins and a new Pumpkin Cream Cheese Spread.
New on the Dunkin’ Donuts menu in 2017 will be several maple-flavored goodies, including Maple Pecan flavored hot or iced coffees and espresso beverages, the new Maple Sugar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich, and a new Festive Fall Donut. All of these fall goodies will be available for a limited time through the fall but will definitely last until International Coffee Day.
